Regular Cleaning

Remember to always wipe off spills from your quartz kitchen countertops immediately with a soft cloth or sponge and a mild household cleaner. Use a non-abrasive cleaning solution specifically designed for quartz material to remove dirt and grease and avoid using scouring pads or other harsh tools that may scratch the surface. Rinse your 5280 Stone countertops thoroughly with clean water to remove any residue from the cleaning solution.

Avoid Harsh Chemicals

Always avoid using acidic or alkaline cleaners as they can potentially damage the quartz surface (these can include vinegar, bleach, ammonia, and oven cleaners). Instead, opt for pH-neutral cleaners and ones specifically formulated for certain materials. Always follow the manufacturer's instructions as well to ensure proper care of your custom quartz countertops.

Dealing with Stubborn Stains

For stubborn stains, such as dried-on food or hard water marks, our stone countertop fabricators recommend you gently scrape off the residue with a plastic putty knife or a non-metallic scraper. Apply a non-abrasive, stain-removing cleaner made for quartz countertops and let it sit for a few minutes. Gently scrub the stained area with a soft cloth or sponge and rinse with clean water.

For extra stubborn stains, however, repeat the process or use a specialized quartz stain remover.

Preventing Heat and Physical Damage

Although our quartz countertops for kitchens and bathrooms are heat resistant, our 5280 Stone team still recommends using trivets or hot pads when placing hot pans or dishes directly on the surface. Avoid placing heavy or sharp objects directly on the countertop as well to prevent any scratching or chipping. Always use a cutting board when preparing food to protect the surface from damage as well.

Protecting from Everyday Wear and Tear

You can easily keep your countertops from our quartz fabricators clean by using coasters or placemats under glasses, cups, and bottles; this prevents any potential staining caused by condensation or spills. Don’t drag heavy objects across the countertop, too, as this can potentially scratch the surface. Consider placing protective pads or mats under small appliances or other frequently used items to prevent direct contact with the quartz.

Sealing and Repairs

One of the advantages of quartz countertops is that they do not require sealing like other natural materials from our stone countertop fabricators. However, if despite all your efforts there is some visual damage to your quartz kitchen countertops, contact our 5280 Stone team to learn more about restoration options.
